Question by matt s: How do you tell if a projector bulb is dead or if it is the projector itself?
I have a benq w100 projector. I was watching it last night and it went black. All of the lights still come on the projector butons but no light through the lense. It stays on for a couple of minutes (the fans work also), then the lamp light button turns red and it shuts itself off. I have read that they rarely burn out like that but that they usually dim over time. I have also removed the bulb and it has no burn marks or visible signs of failure. I don’t want to buy a new bulb @ $ 400 if that isn’t the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

weel if everything else is working then the projecter probably isn’t dead so try replacing the bulb and see if it works.
